This 5 Day Summer Camp is a wonderful opportunity for your child to grow as an individual, work together as a team, and gain valuable life skills – all while having the time of their life!

YOUTH: 8 - 11yo | TEEN: 12 - 16yo

Every day the kids will learn new improv lessons that apply to both the stage and life. Lessons like staying positive, listening, eye contact, communication skills, and empathy.

Everything that they learn is instrumental in their personal growth.

Listening – It’s a world-wide epidemic that kids don’t listen. And there’s not a lot of summer camps that focus on the SKILL of listening. Improv is about creating together and REQUIRES that we listen to each other. It’s the #1 rule in improv!

Yes, And – On stage, we teach them to say “yes” to the reality which is being created, to stay positive and support the ideas that are being given by their partner. In real life “yes, and” teaches kids to listen, contribute to the conversation and to be way more positive, even about the most difficult tasks. (Kids saying “Yes, And” to cleaning their rooms is all we could ever want)

Team Work – We reinforce the individual contributing to the success of the whole. Each teen and their imagination work with other people to create amazing scenes on the spot. Requires listening skills and good collaboration!

Characters – Playing characters and making bold choices can be really fun! It also teaches us empathy. To play someone else besides ourselves teaches us to think in a different perspective, teaches us to have perception.

Each morning of this 5 day camp begins with connecting with the team through FUN and interactive warm up games. Wake up the brain with quick thinking exercises and activities & wake up the body through movement. With a focus on give and take, quicker thinking and creativity. We’ll learn to respect each other and enforce stronger communication skills.

After we are warmed up, we will get on stage and practice improv skills through scene-work. Learn improv and acting techniques that are universal.

Lunch (12:30). Students must bring their own lunch. At lunch time, we encourage them to put their social skills to work.

After Lunch, we’ll focus on learning improv games and putting morning skills into practice.

It is common to go to an improv show and think, “How do they do that?! Can I learn how to do that, too??” The answer to the first question can be discovered by taking an improv class, and the answer to the second is… YES…AND You’re Going to Love It! Improv comedy classes are a wonderful way to explore your own creativity and ways to express yourself. In a beginning improv comedy class, you can expect to learn basic improv principles including:

  • Complete Agreement
  • Emotional Listening
  • Basic Character Development

You can also expect to learn life skills like:

  • Being comfortable presenting in front of groups of people
  • Self confidence
  • Presentation techniques
  • Teamwork
  • Effective Communication and eye contact

Some people think you have to be funny to take an improv class, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, people that are not funny generally have an easier time grasping improv principles because improv is more about funny “happening” and less about “being” funny. So whether you consider yourself funny or not, an improv class is the right choice for you!

The Jester’Z Training Center offers beginning level classes for adults as well as for those with hopes of becoming a Jester or a professional improv performer there is a development track to move onto advanced and performance prep.  The performance prep level is basically a 9 week audition where students are performing and training weekly with the Owner and Producer of Jester’Z, Jef Rawls keeping a close eye on potential future troop members.  While we do have auditions twice a year, almost all of our Main Stage Performers have come up through the Jester’Z Training Center!

We also offer kidz and teen classes each semester during the school year and several summer camp sessions for kids and teens 8-15 years old.

***JesterZ Improv Comedy is 100% CLEAN COMEDY.  Our classes, along with all of our shows, require a higher standard of creativity that is free of vulgarity & off color content – At JesterZ you will learn to be funny without them!
